D.J. & Brandi Smith From the Stolen Horses Band

I had the great opportunity of photographing D.J. Smith, from the Stolen Horses Band, and his wife Brandi, a few months back. We had a great time at this photo session in downtown Grand Rapids. It was a bit windy but otherwise a beautiful day! I hope you get a chance to go hear the band perform sometime, they are a great group of guys that I had the privilege of also photgraphing. Brandi and DJ are a great couple. Here are a few of their pictures from the session.

Awesome Rehersal Dinner

We were invited to one of our Brides rehersal and the dinner following, a few weeks back. When we walked into the home we were greeted with fantastic smells and wonderfully set tables. The cusine was Chinese, which we love! Each place setting had a hand painted or carved fan, wood chopsticks these fantastic desert cups that were made from a Chinese paper and a Chinese themed center piece. Ours was a box with a tea set made from chocolate (and no we didn't eat it). Catering and chefs were Barry and Andrea Watson, they were fantastic! We picked what we wanted in our stir fry and they would cook it for us while we watched. Everyone had such a great time. Thank you so much to Barry and Andrea for such great service!

Solid chocolate tea set....yum!

We loved this clever desert cone.

Our Groom and Bride, Justin & Lindsey loving the fans!

Bridal Party having fun!

Barry & Andrea hard a work.

Andrea, sister of the groom super excited about all the fortune cookies....

The Healing Field

My Husband, Scott and I decided to take a drive to Cannonsburg Ski Area Where the West Michigan Healing Field is located. In the Field there are 3,200 American flags in Memory and to honor each person who died on September 11. Today is the 10th Anniversary of that day. I wasn't quite prepared for the emotions that came over me when I walked among all those American Flags and read some of the cards with the persons name who had died and a little about that person. I watched as firefighters would walk up to a fallen firefighter and salute their flag and the tears just rolled down my face...my son, Andy and daughter-in-law, Brittany are Firefighters as well and it just brings it that much closer to my heart. If you haven't gone there to see this yet, I highly recommend that you do! It will be there until September 13th.
